The following table gives a selection of prototype rail sections with their dimensions. It is not exhaustive but does include US (ASCE, ARA, AREA, AREMA, Dudley and named railroads) in red, UK (BS sections and named railways) in black, Australian & NZ (NZR, NSW, VR, WAGR and AS) (green) and other sections (including German standards) in blue. The column giving the height in thou gives the code number of the rail for S Scale. Dimensions in Italics are measured from drawings and will be close but may not be 100% accurate. Further detail on permanent way including drawings can be found at this website. |
